Talk Like a Pirate

For those of you who missed it, Monday, September 19th was International Talk Like a Pirate Day. But don’t worry! Some of the festivities aren’t over yet. You may not be able to dress up like a pirate and get a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme (but there’s always next year) but you can still find ways to celebrate. Especially for those in Draper, Utah, a store called Pirate O’s has its main celebrations coming up on Saturday September 24th.

If you still want to celebrate, it’s not too late! (In my opinion it’s never too late to celebrating talking like a pirate) Here are some things you can do.

  1. Watch Pirates of the Carribean. If you haven’t seen this popular Disney movie, then it’s time you find it in the library and watch it. Fun fact- the movie was partially based on the Pirates ride in Disney land. The ride has later been changed to better match the movie, but the ride was the original.
  2. Go and play the Monkey Island series. They follow the story of a young wanna-be pirate Guybrush Threepwood on his adventures. Whether it’s looking for treasure or to save his true love Elaine Marley from the undead Pirate LeChuck, there are hilariousmonkeyisland6 puzzles and dialogues to follow. It’s also recently been remastered and can be played on modern systems.
  3. There are plenty of pirate themed board games. They vary in gaming style greatly from game to game. Whether you want to play a family game or with a group of friends, you can find a pirate themed board game. To name a few;

Dread Pirate, Pirate’s Cove, Rum and Bones, Black Fleet, Pirate King, Seafarers of Catan, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Each play differently from the rest. If you want to look at some other games or ratings, feel free to look at for some ratings.

4. Finally, it’s never a bad time for some Pirate themed jokes.

What’s a pirate’s least favorite color?….. Maroon!

What’s a pirate’s favorite letter?……. You think it would be ‘R’, but their love, it is the Sea!

Why are pirates bad at cards?………. Cause their always standing on the deck!

How much does it cost for a pirate to get a piercing?…… A buck an ear!
